Why do we hold conventions?
Convention Cycle
Who can be a delegate? Anyone registered to vote in the precinct/district/state in which the convention is held.
Who should be a delegate? The best delegates/alternates pool should come from those who attend GOP meetings regularly and are members of the local GOP. The process requires that your political resume be submitted to the Nominating Committee to be eligible.
When and where will the conventions be held? TBD
How many Delegates do we get at Conventions?
The number of delegates/alternates each precinct, county, district and state receive is based on the number of people who voted Republican in the last Presidential election.
How much does it cost to attend a convention?
- In odd numbered years we hold conventions to elect county, district, and state GOP officers and committee members. We also vote on resolutions to let the Republican officials know where the rank-and-file stand on important issues. Our next convention cycle will be in 2023.
- During presidential years, we hold conventions to choose delegates/alternates to the National Convention. The delegates to the National Convention will officially nominate the Republican candidate for US President for 2024. Their votes are based on who Georgia Republicans voted for in the presidential primary.
